5 Post-Workout Healthy Snacks

The basic goal of post-workout nutrition is to rehydrate, heal and nourish your body. To recharge and develops muscles, your body requires important nutrients such as protein and carbohydrate.

Here, are some of the best healthy snacks you can try post your workout-

  1. Eggs and Toast
  2. Hummus and Pita
  3. Peanut Butter and Apple
  4. Protein Bar
  5. Greek Yogurt and Granola

 

1. Eggs and Toast- Irrespective of at what time you workout, eggs and toast is the rescue healthy snack for you. Eggs are high in protein and natural cholesterol, both of which aid muscle growth and recuperation. Just 2 eggs and 1 slice of whole grain toast can provide you adequate amount of protein and carbohydrate.

2. Hummus and Pita- Hummus is made of chickpeas, which are rich in protein and carbohydrate as well as insoluble fibre. This helps to refuel and repair your body. When hummus is combined with whole-wheat pita bread, its protein content increases. This combination fills your stomach for longer and restores your energy.

3. Peanut Butter and Apple- Peanut butter is a good source of protein, when combined with a fruit it works as a light and quick post-workout snack. If you are not a fan of peanut butter then you can also go for almond butter, it works the same. A 2 tbsp of peanut butter and an apple can provide you enough amounts of protein and carbohydrate.

4. Protein Bar- If not protein powder, try protein bar. It is one of the best post-workout snacks that can be eaten at your convenience. It contains protein powder, dry fruits, nuts, seeds or whole grain. It is a balanced source of protein and carbohydrate. Avoid protein bars containing excessive added sugar and preservatives.

5. Greek Yogurt and Granola- Any type of yogurt can be a good healthy snack post-workout. However, choosing greek yogurt can be an ideal as it is super rich in protein. It helps to boost fibre-rich carbs when coupled with granola. It also helps to restore and repair your muscles right after workout.
